About the STARLAB Ambassador Program

Become part of a network of STARLAB enthusiasts! Many educators have discovered the wonders of the universe along with their students and colleagues in a STARLAB portable planetarium. These teachers know that STARLAB’s versatility makes it a fascinating tool for teaching astronomy, earth science, mythology, biology, multicultural studies, and more at every level. They also know the interest and excitement it brings to their students.

We, at Science First / STARLAB, are constantly striving to further expand the universe by making STARLAB known and available to more teachers and students. Committed users of the STARLAB — educators — are one of the best resources we have to accomplish this goal, by teaching other educators through workshops, training, in-services and similar programs.

This program has been created to build a nationwide group of enthusiastic STARLAB Ambassadors to help meet the ever-growing demand for demonstrations and trainings in locations all around the country that may be more accessible to a local user.

How the Program Works

  1. Complete a STARLAB Ambassador Profile form below or e-mail STARLAB.
  2. Upon review and approval of your application, you, as a STARLAB Ambassador, will be eligible to be called upon by Science First / STARLAB to provide a service (demonstration, or help at a conference) for flat fee compensation. (In lieu of cash compensation, Ambassadors may choose to be compensated with comparably-valued products from Science First / STARLAB.)  Training compensation is directly negotiated and paid to the ambassador by the trainee or trainee organization.
  3. Ambassadors available for training will be listed on this site to be contacted directly by the trainee.  Science First / STARLAB will function only as a facilitator and takes no responsibility for pricing, payment, or content.
  4. Upon agreement to take the proposed assignment, the STARLAB Ambassador will make arrangements with the prospect or user to fulfill the assignment. Training and demonstration guidelines may be tailored to the individual needs of the trainee.
  5. Prior to receiving compensation for fulfilling an assignment from Science First / STARLAB, the Ambassador will complete and submit a service report.

Compensation Guidelines

Compensation will be based on the service provided:

  • Product demonstrations
  • Training sessions
  • Conferences

(Ambassadors on assignment directly from Science First / STARLAB may choose compensation in the form of products from Science First / Starlab rather than cash.)

Base parameters are 150 miles. Service requirements outside of these parameters will be considered on an individual basis.
